Jurassic Trail
3 Day Wilderness Journey
The Jurassic Trail 3 Day Wilderness Journey is an all inclusive
spectacular walk from the mountains to the sea that is suitable for
a wide range of fitness levels. Unlike any other walk, the scenery
is geologically spectacular and ever changing - snow capped
mountains, rainforests, rivers, lakes, waterfalls, reefs,
white sand beaches and surf. The experiences are diverse- hiking, wildlife
interaction, historical tales, and a magnificent scenic
walk down to Tarrazu - Quepos Coast.
Included in the package is return transport from
San Marcos de Tarrazu to the track, meals, snacks, accommodation, and use of
backpacks and rain jackets. Accommodation is in our
well appointed
lodges with twin share rooms. Our expert guides will ensure your
group (maximum 16 people) experience Costa Rica's wilderness at its
best. The season operates from late October through to April. Year round trips can be arranged also.

Pre Departure Briefing
Your pre departure briefing begins at 6
pm. This is a chance
for you to meet your guide and fellow walkers. Your guide will
"walk" you through the next three unforgettable days, on the Jurassic Trail - Tarrazu Quepos Mountains. The pre
departure briefing takes place at Diego's Lodge in San Marcos de Tarrazu (300 meters north of Downtown San Marcos).

Day One: Mountain Lake, Highland Valley at Gustavo's lodge
Depart San Marcos de Tarrazu by 7am, travel along side the beautiful
Trinidad Mountain and on to Gustavos Avocado tree farm. After a brief stop, depart for the Jurassic Trail Valley and travel through the majestic Santa Maria Valley to
the start of the Track in the Jurassic Trail forest visiting base Camp
2 on the way. Then re-trace the footsteps of early explorers
along the Jurassic Trail River to Naranjillo Lodge. As the trail undulates gently through native forest and beside tumbling
waterfalls enjoy interesting historical tales and interpretation of
the forest and bird life. In the evening you can visit our Naranjillo river banks.

Day Two: Giant Ferns, Wilderness, 1000
Year Old
Trees
and Birdwatching, Wildlife Experience
Begin your day with a short walk to Base Camp 2 and learn
of the history and geology of the area whilst in the midst of
stunning surroundings. Cross Quepos-Tarrazu's longest swing bridge and
then enjoy a captivating horseback journey down the Jurassic Trail River
and across Naranjillo valley to the historic site of Boca Vieja in Quepos ,
the banana capital of the Pacific Southern Costa Rica in the late 19th
century.
Walk through the ancient Los Santos forest (Costa Rica native trees )
with huge Roble, Corteza and Cedro trees wrapped in massive parches of primitive forest. Then
visit the African Palm plantation at El silencio on the Naranjo river East banks. You
may see the rare Quepos-Tarrazu Tepezcuintle. Spend
the night at a Quepos Lodge.
Walking Distance: Approx 12kms (7miles).

Day Three: Manuel Antonio Quepos Beaches and Coastline
/Scenic walk to Tarrazu - Quepos Coast
Travel to
the beach and explore the seven kilometre Beach paradise in Manuel Antonio ,
white sand beaches and and tropical forest awaits you. Learn about its history and its plant, sea
and bird life. Return to Diego's Lodge and then enjoy a scenic
trip to Tarrazu - Quepos Mountains, with views of the Track route, Jurassic Trail
Valley and Mt Vueltas, Quepos-Tarrazu's highest peak. Board your coach for
your return journey to San Marcos de Tarrazu with stops of interest along the
way. Arrive back in San Marcos by 5 pm and
San Jose by approximately 7.30 pm.
There is an option at additional cost to cruise Quepos Manuel Antonio Coast if you
wish.
